South London Self-Esteem & Depression Groups.

Are you concerned about your worth as a person? Is your self-esteem getting in the way of your pursuits? Are you struggling to appreciate yourself? Are you struggling to respect yourself? Are you struggling to accept yourself? Are you looking to build up your self-value? Maybe you’re experiencing depressed mood or feelings of low self-worth? Have you lost interest or pleasure in doing things?

Then why not join us at The Copleston Centre, Copleston Rd, London SE15 4AN for our self-esteem group and depression group. The group event will be held for 8 weeks where we will explore facts about self-esteem and depression, discuss ways to build your self-esteem as well as strategies to help cope with, manage & overcome depression.

Note that these are two separate groups.

Below is a little more information on each of the groups including price plans

Self-Esteem Group

The self-esteem CBT group lasts for 8 sessions for 1.5 hours each. Each session covers an individual topic to systematically work towards raising your self-esteem. This course will provide you with an intricate understanding of self-esteem and how you can overcome the negative experiences attached to it.

Session 1:

  • What is CBT?
  • What is low self-esteem?
  • How does low self-esteem develop?
  • What Maintains it?

Session 2:

  • Exploring low self-esteem further from a CBT perspective.
  • Application of theory into practice.
  • Introduces the role of negative automatic thoughts in maintaining low self-esteem.
  • Negative thinking styles.
  • The use of thought records.

Session 3:

  • Review the role of negative thoughts and thought records.
  • Considers cost / benefit of critical thinking.

Session 4:

  • Fact vs Opinion.
  • Negative automatic thoughts and negative thinking styles revisited.

Session 5:

  • Understanding more about self-critical thinking.
  • Combating self-critical thinking.

Session 6:

  • Re-cap of self-critical thinking.
  • Ignoring the positive – self acceptance.

Session 7:

  • What is assertiveness?
  • Different types of behaviour.

Session 8:

  • Course summary – review of techniques covered.
  • Relapse prevention.

Fees per session are dependent on your employability status / income. Sessions can be paid for per session or in bulk i.e. 8 sessions at once. Please see below our payment scale for the group;

  • Unemployed = £2:00 per session
  • £0 – £6,000 = £3:50 per session
  • £6,000 – £16,000 = £7.00 per session
  • £16,000 – £25,000 = £10.00 per session
  • £25,000+ = £15:00 per session

 

Depression Group

The Depression CBT group lasts for 8 sessions, for 1.5 hours each. Each session covers an individual topic to systematically work towards helping you to understand your depression and how you can cope with, manage or overcome the negative experiences attached to it.

Session 1:

  • What is CBT?
  • What is depression?
  • How does depression develop?
  • What maintains it?

Session 2:

  • Understanding the negative cycle including negative thinking styles
  • Understanding the depression cog
  • Identifying thoughts, feelings and behaviour

Session 3:

  • Emotions and their associated thoughts, body reactions and behaviours.
  • Dealing with negative emotions
  • Considers cost / benefit of critical thinking.

Session 4: 

  • Fact vs Opinion.
  • Negative automatic thoughts and negative thinking styles revisited.
  • Understanding more about self-critical thinking.
  • Combating self-critical thinking.

Session 5:

  • Challenging and Making changes to thoughts
  • Making changes to behaviour
  • Gaining a different perspective

Session 6:

  • Defusing or distancing thoughts
  • Positive steps to well-being

Session 7:

  • Mindfulness
  • Defusing techniques

Session 8:

  • Course summary.
  • Next steps.
